Based on his essay, I am definitely getting his book. He does write in a very clear, concise way.

Thought it was appropriate, given the recent discussion around here and other blogs.

I haven't read Salatin's or Tudge's books yet, but they're on my reading list as well, along with some Daniel Quinn - he has some very interesting and on point views regarding population growth and food production.Tracyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17268626403040745983noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30181477.post-58697584905898185582008-04-29T13:06:00.000-04:002008-04-29T13:06:00.000-04:00Wow! You have excellently assembled and summarized great insight into what cultivation-based farming really is: farming as wealth building, farming creating energy imbalances, and farming as mismanagement of the world's ecosystems - and you have said in such clear, easy to understand language that most anyone should be able to understand. Every bit of your essay fit in perfectly with what I have been learning, from way back in my college days taking elective such as Cultural Geography and Urban Geography, to more recent readings of Joel Salatin (Holy Cows and Hog Heaven), Colin Tudge's So Shall We Reap, as well as Michael Pollan's Omnivore's Dilemma and other books about food, food production, agriculture, hunter-gatherers, and development of culture. This is the sort of thing I think we should be talking about, not the tired, wornout admonition to eschew beef to save the environment.

Bravo!Annawww.againstthegrainblog.comnoreply@blogger.com
